ASK volunteers offer insight and guidance that can help you through a number of situations including:

Practice your pitch.
When networking, be prepared to introduce yourself. Your 30-second pitch should indicate who you are, the strengths and skills you have to offer, and what information you are seeking.
Be attentive.
Listen as people tell their stories and share their expertise.
Say thank you.
Whenever someone offers career guidance and support, remember to thank them.
Don’t skip the subject line.
Emailing a mentor? Be specific in the subject line, such as “DePaul ASK Mentor Request.” An empty subject line from an unknown email will be deleted.
Stay in touch.
Keep valuable networking contacts informed of your progress.
Attend a workshop.
Looking for in-depth info on resumes, interviews, networking and more? Attend a Career Center workshop.
Be prepared.
Meeting with a mentor? Read about your contact's field and organization in order to get the most out of your meeting as well as show your interest.
Have an effective handshake.
A limp grip makes you appear hesitant. An overpowering grip can turn people off. Smile, make eye contact, and shake firmly and sincerely.
Meet Susan.
Dr. Susan Zoline received both her Masters and PhD degrees in Clinical Psychology from DePaul. She has been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Chicago for nearly 30 years and spent the last 20 also as a faculty member with Argosy University. She specializes in professional ethics. Find Susan and others like her.
Meet Maribeth.
Maribeth Westlund holds her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and her type 75 certification from DePaul. She is a currently a social studies teacher and department chair at Schaumburg HS. In 2004, she was recognized for being a National Board Certified Teacher and recently co-wrote a grant for nearly one million dollars to improve the teaching of American history in districts 211 and 214. Meet Jeff.
Jeff Jones is a senior engineer with Fannie Mae, the country's largest provider of mortgage liquidity. He is author of several open source code projects for SharePoint and an active member of the International SharePoint Professionals Association. Jeff received his MS from DePaul. Meet Dino.
With a BA in Media Studies, Dino interned with SRN Broadcasting and ESPN Radio 1000 before working for the Chicago Cubs. He began as an admin assistant in HR before being promoted to HRIS Coordinator. He credits his DePaul education for his current success. Find Dino and others like him.
Meet Chris.
Dr. Chris Croner is a principal with SalesDrive, a cutting edge sales management consulting firm, where he developed the SalesDrive assessment system, including the "Drive Model" of salesperson motivation. Chris is an adjunct faculty member at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a member of the Consulting Section of hte IL Psychological Association. Meet Vicki.
As a "double demon," Vicki Klopsch holds her BA in Communication Studies and an MA in Organizational & Multicultural Communication, both from DePaul. She also holds a certificate in volunteer management. Her experience in the non-profit sector includes positions with social services, cultural institutions, and in higher education. Most recently, Vicki managed the ASK program at DePaul before joining Scripps College in California. Find Vicki and mentors like her through ASK.
Meet Doreen.
Doreen Hopkins is currently earning her Ph.D. in Sociology from SUNY - Stony Brook. As a "double demon," she received her BA in Psychology and MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from DePaul where she worked with the McNair Scholars Program, supporting first-generation and underrepresented students in the pursuit of the doctorate degree. Meet Erin.
Erin Mink Garvey is a recent graduate of LA&S a double-major in Spanish and English. She was recently accepted to DePaul’s International Public Service program and currently works as an office assistant for the Office of Develoment at DePaul. Find Erin and others like her.
Meet Jason.
Jason Jacobsohn holds an MBA from Kellstadt and is well known in the Chicago area as a “connector” and go-to person for entrepreneurs who want to grow and maintain their success. He enjoys sharing his expertise and helping others and the column he writes for MidwestBusiness.com. Currently, Jason is a Specialist and Advisor for KMG Enterprises, a growth advisory firm for entrepreneurs. Find Jason and others like him.
Meet Steve.
Steve Burns graduated from DePaul with an MS in accounting and went on to obtain his CPA. After creating a foundation of technical accounting skills, he transitioned to a mid-size national public accounting firm in Chicago, where he finds the variety of work and being part of the judicial process both interesting and fulfilling. Meet Tom.
Tom Curatolo earned his MBA at DePaul and is currently the Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer of a real estate investment company in Chicago. He has had similar roles in insurance with Aon Corporation. As an ASK mentor, Tom's willing to answering questions about the real estate and insurance industries and offer guidance on your career track. Find Tom and others like him.
Meet Yves.
With an MS from DePaul, Yves Pinkowitz spent 15 years in public accounting with Deloitte and Touche in various auditing positions and is currently a VP with Pacific Life Insurance Company. His experience includes managing one of the life insurance subsidiaries, securities operations, and Corporate Internal Audit. Meet Dawn.
Dawn Litwiller received her MBA in Marketing from Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in 2001. With extensive experience in supply chain management, Dawn is now a Program Development Manager at Anixter Inc., responsible for working with sales teams to develop supply chain service solutions for their customers.
