Example B: Initial Email, Company Interest

Dear Carlos,

I received your name from DePaul's alumni mentoring program. I am nearly complete with my MBA and have concentrated on corporate strategy or marketing. According to your profile, you play such a role at Company.

I would like to learn about your experience, and perhaps any pointers you might have on how to best position my resume to appeal to a hiring manager.

If you can accommodate my request, I can share my resume as a further introduction. I am occasionally in the west suburbs and would welcome the chance to meet for coffee.

I found you through DePaul’s ASK Volunteer Network and was hoping we could connect. I am an adult student with DePaul’s School for New Learning (SNL). My focus area is Finance. The SNL program requires me to have a Professional Advisor (PA), someone who is skilled and educated in my focus area. You can read more about my program online.

I would like to discuss the possibility of inviting you to be my PA to would like to learn more about the Finance industry and how you prepared for your career. This program offers a small monetary compensation in return for a few planning and review meetings.
